Planned bike tour: “10.000 Miles for Mr. President”
Welcome to our epic bicycle tour from Miami to Boston, onwards to Seattle, and finally down to San Diego, before completing the circle back to Miami. Under the banner of “10,000 Miles for Mr. President,” we are making a bold statement and honoring the President who has captured our attention.
This extraordinary tour spans over 10,000 miles and takes us through a diverse range of landscapes, cultures, and cities in the USA. From the sunny beaches of Miami to the impressive skylines of Boston and Seattle, from the picturesque West Coast to the historic East Coast, we will experience America’s diversity up close and personal on two wheels.
The tour is not just a sporting challenge but also an opportunity to express our enthusiasm for cycling, nature, and political support. We are proud to be part of this special journey and to share our passion with like-minded individuals as we pay tribute to “10,000 Miles for Mr. President.”
There’s quite a bit to report:
We didn’t bring our bicycles with us to the USA; instead, we bought two new ones there. Shipping the batteries for our German bikes was quite an ordeal, and altogether, it would have cost more than buying two suitable bikes in the USA.
My wife has decided to join me on the East Coast leg of the journey from Miami towards Boston, albeit not covering quite as many miles per day as I would if I were riding alone.
My wife will then fly back from Boston on the 27th of May. She’ll return to the USA once I’ve covered the remaining 13,500 km.
The B2 visa for the USA was approved, and the embassy interview on March 21, 2024, was easier and more relaxed than expected.
On May 2, 2024, we began our grand tour together, hoping for many beautiful and lasting memories.
