Day 39: Grand Forks, ND – Grand Forks, ND
Good morning everybody, Today wasn’t a good day again. I’m starting to think I’ve been cursed or something. This morning, shortly after the start, in fantastic sunshine and a strong headwind, the bike started spinning again. First there were indefinable engine surges, even though I was actually traveling quite normally with my support level 2. Suddenly the numbers on the display rotated and the displayed speed moved back and forth between 0 and 30kmh. A few kilometers further on, the bike only rode at full throttle, like with support level 5, and it didn’t matter which level I set on the display. Then the speed was no longer displayed at all and the kilometers were no longer counted. The bike switched off every 3-4km. I tried out how far I could go on a battery with this support and the headwind: according to Strava it was exactly 20.30 kilometers. So I turned around, moved back into my room at the Knights Inn Motel in Grand Forks, North Dakota and – in video chat with my owner – started going through all the possible options. The manufacturer Aventon had promised to exchange my defective bike for a brand new one. However, at my dealer in Florida. And at the moment it is not yet known when the new bike will arrive there. It’s just a disaster.
