Day 2: Good Morning to Everyone Reading This

Good morning to everyone reading this. Our night at the Ramada was fairly pleasant, and we had a good rest. We intentionally started with shorter distances to gradually get used to the strain and our new bikes. Just before the start, I had an unfortunate incident: I tried to properly attach my front bag and accidentally activated the pepper spray inside it. Originally intended for self-defense against troublemakers or stray dogs, the spray turned against me, making the room instantly uninhabitable, and by evening, my face looked like a tomato.

Today, we head north on US1 towards Stuart. After about half an hour, we breezed through West Palm Beach – a city with around 120,000 inhabitants (similar to our Regensburg) and impressive buildings. The city planners did a great job mixing old structures with modern architecture. Notably, we saw buildings constructed around old trees instead of cutting them down – pure sustainability.

In the following Juno Beach, a large bridge was being repaired – the detour was poorly marked and cost us an extra 5 kilometers. After that, it became somewhat rural, and we battled against the hot wind at 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit) towards our destination. A few more kilometers today – a total of 88.
