Day 57: Indio, CA (1.7.24)
Good morning to everyone who is interested in our blog. Bakersfield was quickly deserted, a town like many and the breakfast was once again a mess. Since I didn’t feel like going to LA with its endless traffic jams, the plan was to head east to the Mojave Desert and then south to the destination. The first highlight was Kern County with the river of the same name, which was impressively cut into the day. Then we went over Walker Pass to Inyokern and south through long desert regions to the destination. Even though it was very hot today, I didn’t miss the opportunity to hike a little bit of the PCT from Walker Pass; it just had to be done. When I arrived at my destination in Indio it was 114 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to 45.5 degrees Celsius. So I’ll let it go…
