Our motivation is wanderlust, the desire to travel in general, as well as the people along the way and everything else that awaits us when we manage such tours. Last but not least, of course, the exercise in the fresh air.
And as they say about touring cyclists, “fast enough to get ahead, but slow enough to see a lot.”
The United States is the near perfect cycling destination for us, which is why we’ve been there a few dozen times.
The latest project, which is currently in the planning stage, is sure to be highly polarizing – because it will be a tribute to Donald Trump, who has caused a worldwide stir and divided camps with his unconventional, pacifist and heartfelt way of governing his country.
Also -and above all- because he is always portrayed very unflatteringly in Europe and as if Mr. Trump were incapable of holding such an office – opinions about him in the U.S. itself speak a very different language.
Of course, as with any other public figure, there are various controversies, but the fact that over 150 million Americans have become enthusiastic supporters should give pause for thought. So he can’t be that wrong after all.
And just the latest hostilities from the ranks of his -mostly- political opponents show how popular he is.
Mr. Trump literally wears his heart on his sleeve, is shrill, loud and uncomfortable, but at the same time pleasantly human with rough edges and extraordinarily sincere, and for this very reason he offers quite a bit to attack.
But he is one of the very few top politicians of a world power who serve their country 100% – which politician in Germany or the rest of the world can claim that about himself and/or follow up these claims with actions?
We have therefore launched the project “10,000 Miles for Mr. President” to show the citizens of the United States, who are not yet convinced by Mr. Trump, that on the other side of the Atlantic, in faraway Germany and Europe, also very many people would like Mr. Trump to become the next president again.
Perhaps this tour will help a little to further increase Mr. Trump’s popularity, to persuade even citizens who are not yet fully convinced to make the right decision at the ballot box. For themselves, for their America, for peace around the world.
Of course, we are aware that we are two completely unknown and insignificant people, but crazy enough to set out on a 16,000km journey to circumnavigate the United States by bicycle.
Something like this is not an everyday occurrence, it’s called “moving against the current”, hence the name of our homepage. Help us to make sure that the current doesn’t get us down!
We have contacted various American media, news and TV stations and selected daily newspapers in advance, but also the Republican Party of the USA and hope to get some attention. For the people in America, the people in Europe and everybody who is interested.
As you can easily see, I am breaking a lance for Donald Trump here – but there are, apart from all the aforementioned, two more points that speak for Donald Trump and make him very likeable: 1. he is in fact also a German (his grandfather Friedrich Trump had emigrated to the USA in 1885) and 2. he has about the same figure as I do (i.e. slim as a rake).
