Day 56: Bakersfield, CA (30.6.24)
I greet Germany and the rest of the world today from Bakersfield, California. I left my flophouse (sorry) in Vallejo with the first rays of sunshine and headed straight south through never-ending apple and cherry orchards and peanut fields. The sights along the route were limited, apart from the many burnt fields. In Fresno I drove through the city to get a few impressions – Fresno is a city where (sorry again) you don’t want to hang dead over the fence. The poorest of the poor have built their homes on the sidewalks and that seems to be quite normal there and there is some shady character on every other corner. I was really happy not to have to ride my bike there.
Dear Mr. President Trump, you still have a lot of work to do!
