Day 22: Richmond, VA – Fredericksburg, VA
Hello everyone,
after a three day break the tour is now starting again. Since I only drove from Boston to Wilmington yesterday, I had to drive the remaining 400km back to Richmond this morning. Unfortunately, traffic jams everywhere on Interstate 95 again (or especially) even though today is a holiday (Memorial Day). Therefore, it was after 2 p.m. when I was able to set off from the storage with my bike. The route to Fredericksburg on US 1 was like a washboard: 100 little waves up and down again. Luckily with a good tailwind. There’s not much to report, lots of small farms along the way, a lot of traffic on the highway, but everything went well, no problems.
The only downer about today’s (and all subsequent) stage(s) was that I can no longer see my little red flash in the rearview mirror. This fills my heart with sadness – my owner is a wonderful person and I miss her care and love so much. But she holds down the fort at home, maintains this homepage here and we are in constant contact.
